Islam Makhachev’s social media posts on the X platform have come under scrutiny after a recent blunder by MMA manager, Ali Abdelaziz. There has long been a theory that Abdelaziz authored the social media posts for his fighters, and he even admitted to writing for Khabib Nurmagomedov during his early career when his English skills were lacking.
The recent post by Abdelaziz seems to point to him managing Makhachev’s account at present, after stumbling across a post online claiming Charles Oliveira’s coach believes the lightweight champion is avoiding a rematch with ‘do Bronx’. Abdelaziz responded, but some fans ridiculed his apparent mistake, suggesting he forgot to change accounts.
In addition to fans mocking Abdelaziz for his error, they also shared their opinions on the potential rematch between Makhachev and ‘do Bronx’. Despite the claims by Oliveira’s coach, the lightweight champion recently announced his desire to fight the winner of Oliveira versus Arman Tsarukyuan, which is set for UFC 300.
Makhachev has yet to confirm his next fight. However, he has expressed interest in facing Justin Gaethje in June. Both Gaethje’s manager and Abdelaziz, who co-manages Makhachev, have shared enthusiasm for a clash between the two lightweights. Abdelaziz believes Gaethje has earned his title shot, especially after his impressive victories against Rafael Fiziev at UFC 286 and Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 in 2023.
