Anthony Pettis seeks UFC legend challenge following boxing debut win over Roy Jones Jr.

Former UFC lightweight Anthony Pettis has expressed interest in boxing Anderson Silva as his next opponent. Pettis recently fought boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. on April 1st in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, under Jorge Masvidal’s ‘Gamebred Boxing’ banner. ‘Showtime’ won the bout against Jones Jr. via unanimous decision after eight rounds.

Pettis’s desire to fight Anderson Silva

In the post-fight press conference, Pettis mentioned his desire to face former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in the boxing ring. Anthony Pettis said, “I’d love to fight Anderson Silva, and that was supposed to happen in the UFC. For me, the weight definitely matters but I [will] pay attention to my coaches. I mean I’m one of those guys, you – anywhere, anytime, [the ruleset doesn’t matter] – I’m down to fight.”

Continued interest in mixed martial arts

Although Pettis has enjoyed his recent boxing experience, he revealed that he still has interest in competing in mixed martial arts, particularly at welterweight. He said, “I’m not done with MMA yet, I’ve still got some MMA left in me. I definitely want to move up to 170 pounds. Doing that tournament (PFL lightweight GP) at 155, I just couldn’t be myself. I just weight cut too much, I didn’t feel good in the training camp.”

Anthony Pettis is a well-known striker in the world of MMA, having held championship titles in multiple organizations, including the WEC and UFC. He has an overall MMA record of 25-14, having fought in featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight classes.
