UFC middleweight Bo Nickal, a national champion in freestyle wrestling, recently narrated an experience of fighting an Iranian wrestler, presumably on illegal substances. Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience, Nickal talked about his encounter during a tournament in Rome a few years ago. He mentioned his surprise when the Iranian opponent, who was heavily built and agile, quickly overpowered him.
The UFC wrestler revealed that his Iranian opponent was a former world silver and bronze medalist. However, he had been banned for the past five years due to substance abuse and had focused on training. The Iranian wrestler then went on to defeat Kyle Snyder, Nickal’s American teammate and Olympic gold medalist, in the same manner.
In more recent news, Bo Nickal is geared up for his upcoming fight in the historic UFC 300 card set in April. He confirmed the match during The Joe Rogan Experience and expressed his excitement about fighting on the renowned platform. Although his opponent is yet to be announced, Nickal boasts an impressive record of five wins in his MMA career, including two from the UFC octagon.
Cody Brundage has been named as Nickal’s opponent in the upcoming fight. As an eight-fight UFC veteran, Brundage has won back-to-back matches and participated in four fights this year compared to Nickal’s two. Both fighters will aim to kick off the year with a win on the blockbuster card.
