Cris Cyborg, the former UFC women’s featherweight champion, recently competed in her third professional boxing match against American lightweight boxer Kelsey Wickstrum. The match headlined World Fighting Championship’s WFC 163 event and was scheduled for six rounds. However, Cyborg only needed the first round to secure a victory in her third consecutive boxing match. Within the first minute and 21 seconds of the fight, Cyborg landed an overhand right to Wickstrum’s temple, ending the bout.
Some fans, however, questioned the legitimacy of Cyborg’s win, suggesting that Wickstrum took the fall on purpose. Comments ranged from criticisms about the overhand right’s speed to the commentator’s excited reactions about the knockout. While many fans were impressed by Cyborg’s performance, they also pointed out that Wickstrum had an abysmal professional record.
Cris Cyborg, considered the most accomplished women’s featherweight in the history of the sport, has held championship belts in each of the four major promotions. She may potentially add a fifth title by facing PFL 2023 featherweight champion Larissa Pacheco after PFL’s recent acquisition of Bellator. However, Cyborg has her sights set on Kayla Harrison.
In an interview with MMA Junkie Radio, Cyborg stated that she has no problem fighting Larissa Pacheco but has been promoting a fight against Kayla Harrison for three years. “You can use the opportunity after this fight to promote for Larissa. I think everyone is waiting for me and Kayla Harrison. But I don’t have any problem fighting Larissa, but I believe you have to start promoting this fight. First is Kayla Harrison,” she said. Harrison is currently out of contract and has not yet resigned with the PFL since her last fight.
