UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards recently shared a photo with his son on social media, wishing his fans a merry Christmas. Belal Muhammad, who is believed to be Edwards’ next title challenger, decided to have a little fun and swapped his own face with Edwards’ in the photo. The edited picture also replaced Edwards’ son’s face with that of the welterweight champion. Muhammad posted the altered image with the caption, “This time next year”.
The humorous edit resulted in several funny reactions from both fans and fighters. Former UFC middleweight contender Derek Brunson commented on the post, writing, “Ayooo lol”. Muhammad responded to Brunson, jokingly saying, “It’s me and my son”. While many fans recognized the original photo as being of Edwards and his son, some were confused by the edited picture, posting comments like, “Why would you be cuddling with Leon though bro?” and “Your gonna cuddle Leon on a couch?”.
One user pointed out Muhammad’s lack of context in the edited picture and suggested that it would have been funnier if he had just left Leon’s son in the image. Another user praised Muhammad for making the welterweight division more interesting, saying, “Can’t wait for the welterweight division to be active and fun again”.
In response to Jon Jones’ praise for his UFC 296 win over Colby Covington, Edwards referred to Jones as the “G.O.A.T” (Greatest of All Time). Jones had congratulated Edwards on his victory, offering to gift him a motorcycle for Christmas. Edwards responded, “Respect G.O.A.T, it was easy work. Means a lot coming from you. I don’t ride bikes but I will take a rollie tho”.
