Themba Gorimbo recently shared details of his private direct message (DM) conversation with Kiefer Crosbie, who he was supposed to face before the Irishman withdrew due to an injury. Gorimbo was not happy with Crosbie engaging in trash talk as a means to promote their bout. In their conversation, Crosbie mentioned that he had no reason to say more, since he was injured and that everything he said was merely to entertain the fans and draw their interest.
The Irishman’s trash talk merged into lighter banter when he mentioned Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson purchasing a house for the Zimbabwean UFC sensation. He taunted Gorimbo by asking if Johnson had also purchased health insurance for him, while referring to Gorimbo as a “moocher.” Gorimbo responded by saying, “It’s never nice to hear opponent got injured. This guy had so much to say about me and now I guess he needs the insurance. Lesson is (don’t be a hater). Be Lekker and good things shall come your way. Case closed.”
Although Gorimbo and Crosbie ultimately never crossed paths, it would have been a thrilling clash for the fans. The two fighters have similar records, with the Zimbabwean’s consisting of 11 wins and 4 losses, while Crosbie has a record of 10 wins and 4 losses. The matchup against Gorimbo would have been Crosbie’s sophomore UFC fight, as his promotional debut at UFC 293 ended in disaster, with Crosbie losing in the first round via submission.
Meanwhile, Gorimbo sought to build upon his previous unanimous decision win over Takashi Sato. With the match against Kiefer Crosbie now canceled, fans are curious about Themba Gorimbo’s next fight. Unfortunately, the 32-year-old Zimbabwean phenom does not have a bout scheduled at this time, making it unclear how much time he has left at the peak of his powers.
So far, Gorimbo has participated in two fights under the UFC banner. His promotional debut was not successful, as he suffered a second-round submission loss to A.J. Fletcher by way of a guillotine choke.
