Joe Cronin has been with the Trail Blazers organization for 17 seasons and became the 11th general manager in franchise history on May 9, 2022. As he took on his new role, Cronin’s primary responsibility was to build a roster around Damian Lillard that could contend for a championship title.
Championship Dreams Remain Unfulfilled
Cronin has faced challenges in building a contending team around Lillard, but the seven-time All-Star remains steadfastly loyal to the Trail Blazers. Despite the absence of a championship, both Cronin and Lillard continue to work towards their shared goal. The Blazers GM admitted in an interview that “I do feel like we FAILED dame,” expressing the organization’s current struggle to deliver the desired results.
