Jimmy Butler was not pleased with Damian Lillard’s move to the Milwaukee Bucks instead of the Miami Heat, his preferred destination. Lillard joined the Bucks as part of a three-team trade involving the Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns. In response, Butler decided to voice his concerns on social media, accusing the Bucks of tampering.
On an Instagram story posted Wednesday, Butler called for the NBA to investigate the trade. He said, “Yo NBA man, y’all need to look into the Bucks for tampering. You all do. I’m just going to put that out there. Y’all didn’t hear it from me, but I heard it from somebody.”
Butler’s public request for an investigation suggests the possibility of behind-the-scenes talks or agreements between Lillard and the Bucks that may have been against the league’s rules. NBA teams are not allowed to have contact with players under contract with other teams without permission or engage in unauthorized negotiations.
While Butler’s comments are provocative, it’s important to note that the NBA has yet to take any action regarding the matter. It remains to be seen whether the league will follow up on Butler’s accusations and look into the trade that led to Lillard’s move to Milwaukee.
Even though Lillard has made the move to the Bucks as part of the three-team trade, it appears that some players are not happy with the situation, as evidenced by Butler’s accusations. Ultimately, it will be up to the NBA to determine whether any rules were broken in the process.
