Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins has been slapped with a $25,000 fine by the NBA following his explosive interview. The interview took place post the Grizzlies’ 127-121 NBA In-Season tournament loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday. This marked their eighth loss of the year as their record dropped to 1-8.
Jenkins did not hold back in expressing his frustration with the referees during his post-game media interaction. The coach pointed out multiple issues with the officiating, also highlighting the ejection of reigning DPOY Jaren Jackson Jr.
The Grizzlies coach made his feelings clear, stating, “Saddle up. One of the most poorly officiated games I’ve ever seen. Record it, I’m fine with it. F*cking atrocious.” His comments have ultimately led to the NBA imposing the sizable fine on him.
It is yet to be seen if Jenkins’ strong criticism of the officials will lead to any changes, or if it will result in further consequences for him. For now, the Grizzlies will need to regroup and find ways to improve their record in the remainder of the season.
