Following star guard James Harden’s departure from the Philadelphia 76ers, discussions about the future of his former co-star Joel Embiid in Philly have been rife. These discussions have even included NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, who recently shared a mock trade proposal that could send the reigning MVP to the New York Knicks.
The mock trade proposal caught the interest of many, as O’Neal shared it in his Instagram stories without a caption. This move certainly sparked conversations around the possibility of a deal between the Knicks and the 76ers for Embiid.
In this hypothetical trade scenario, the Knicks would acquire Embiid and forward Tobias Harris. Conversely, the 76ers would receive a player package consisting of star forward Julius Randle, wings RJ Barrett and Evan Fournier, and center Mitchell Robinson. Additionally, Philly would also receive multiple first-round picks in the deal.
The mock trade has generated much interest and speculation among fans and analysts. As of now, there is no indication that any such exchange may actually happen. However, it certainly adds to the ongoing conversations surrounding Joel Embiid’s future in Philadelphia, and how the roster might shift in light of Harden’s departure
