Atonio Mafi, a 6’3″, 340-pound redshirt senior at UCLA, started off his college football career as a three-star guard recruit in 2018. He initially played on the defensive line, where he started 14 of 24 games and racked up 44 tackles (5.5 for loss). However, in 2020 Mafi made the decision to switch back to offense.
Transition to Offense
After transitioning back to offense in 2020, Mafi saw action as a backup in seven games before starting three of the 12 contests in the following season. His performance on the field demonstrated his adaptability, as he started and played in multiple positions throughout the season.
Outstanding Performances
Mafi’s performances continued to impress in his final year at UCLA, as he started all 13 games at left guard. His hard work garnered recognition from his coaches, who voted him second-team All-Pac-12. Mafi played an integral role in helping the Bruins achieve a rushing attack that averaged 237.2 yards per game and six yards per carry.
Future Prospects
