Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Poses with Iconic Italian Open Statue, Hails It as Her Favorite Court During Early Visit

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova shared a amusing photo of herself with a iconic statue at the Italian Open on social media, accompanied by a humorous caption. She visited the Foro Italico, the famous sports complex in Rome that houses the prestigious Italian Open’s clay courts, which is an ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 event. This year’s tournament is scheduled to begin on May 6.

Although Pavlyuchenkova didn’t reveal her exact purpose for visiting the complex, she seemed to make the most of her time there. In one of her posts, the former WTA world No. 11 posed in front of a stripped statue, one of the 60 marble statues at the venue, accompanied by a comical caption. “Fav court ever if u know what I mean,” the Russian athlete wrote in an Instagram post.

In another post, the WTA world No. 22 showed an empty clay court at the Foro Italico. Unsurprisingly, the court was vacant and appeared a far cry from its usual lively atmosphere during the Italian Open. The Russian titled the post: “Came a bit early…”

Pavlyuchenkova is not the first person to make light of the stripped statue at the Italian Open venue. Last year, Canadian player Eugenie Bouchard, who is now an active pickleball player, also shared her amusement after encountering the same statue.

Pavlyuchenkova, the 21st seed at the Miami Open, experienced a early exit from the tournament. Although she had a promising start at the WTA 1000 event, she was defeated in the third round. The Russian’s current season has seen her play 19 matches, with 13 wins and six losses. She also withdrew from the Dubai Tennis Championships before her Round of 32 match against fellow countrywoman Liudmila Samsonova.
