Andy Murray’s mom Judy moved by Kevin Sinfield carrying Rob Burrow at marathon finish line

Andy Murray’s mother, Judy Murray, expressed her admiration for the touching moment when rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield carried his former teammate Rob Burrow over the finish line at the Rob Burrow Leeds marathon. Sinfield and Burrow have a long-lasting friendship, and after Burrow’s motor neurone disease diagnosis in 2019, they started The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal.

The Inaugural Marathon

In the first Rob Burrow Leeds marathon, Sinfield pushed Burrow in a specially adapted wheelchair throughout the course. After they reached the finish line, Judy Murray retweeted a clip posted by BBC Sport and wrote, “So great to see. Sport is where you make friends for life.” Sinfield’s heartfelt gesture of carrying Burrow over the finish line exemplified the deep respect and friendship the two share.

A Successful Event

The event, which had over 12,000 participants, concluded with a kiss between the former teammates. The proceeds from the marathon went to The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease Appeal, the Leeds Hospitals Charity, and other causes. Meanwhile, second seed Andy Murray prepares for the Round of 16 at the Challenger Bordeaux on May 17.
