Andy Roddick Addresses Misquotes on Jannik Sinner’s French Open Prospects: Laments Media Misrepresentation

On Thursday, Andy Roddick took to social media to defend himself after his recent comments about Jannik Sinner’s prospects in the upcoming French Open were misrepresented. In a blog post for Betway, Roddick stated that clay might be Sinner’s most challenging surface and that his powerful playing style on hard courts might be less effective on clay. As a result, Roddick felt that Sinner would not be one of the top two favorites heading into Roland Garros.

Roddick also commented on other ATP players who could have a shot at winning the French Open, including defending champion Novak Djokovic, as well as last year’s semifinalists Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev. However, Tennis Head mistakenly reported that Roddick said Sinner wasn’t a favorite for the upcoming French Open and that he had chosen three other players over Sinner for the title.

Upon noticing the tweet, Roddick clarified that his comments on Djokovic, Zverev, and Alcaraz were separate from his views on Sinner and that he didn’t necessarily favor them over the Italian player. In response, Tennis Head changed the headline of their article to better reflect Roddick’s original statements. Roddick also praised Sinner’s performance over the past six months, calling him the best player on Earth during that time.
