Andy Roddick, the former World No. 1 tennis player, has slammed US Congressman Henry Cuellar and his wife after they were accused of bribery and money laundering. Roddick, who has been open about his opinions on political matters since retiring in 2012, took to social media to share his thoughts on the charges against the Democratic politician and his wife Imelda Rios, saying: “Good riddance. Dem or Republican doesn’t matter. Charges are charges. Crime is crime. If convicted, then it’s our system at work. Crime and abuse of office shouldn’t be political. Wrong is wrong is wrong.”
Roddick has also recently criticized former US President Donald Trump for selling branded bibles for $60, stating that it is inappropriate for someone of Trump’s wealth to profit from selling religious books.
In other news, Roddick has shared his picks for the winners of the 2024 French Open, choosing World No. 4 Elena Rybakina on the women’s side and 14-time champion Rafael Nadal on the men’s side, despite Nadal’s fitness concerns. Roddick believes that if Nadal can find his competitive rhythm before the tournament, he will be the top contender for the title.
