Carlos Alcaraz encounters children of Jim Courier, Bob Bryan, & Michael Chang at Miami Open 2023

At the 2023 Miami Open on Thursday, World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz shared a memorable moment with the children of American tennis legends, Bob Bryan, Jim Courier, and Michael Chang. The youngsters had an opportunity to interact with Alcaraz after he secured his 10th consecutive victory, defeating American No. 1 Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals. Bob Bryan took to social media to share a snapshot of this special event.

Alcaraz’s Winning Streak

Carlos Alcaraz has now won 20 sets in a row since his loss in the Rio Open final. The Spaniard clinched the Indian Wells title without dropping a single set and is now only two victories away from completing the 2023 Sunshine Double. If he succeeds in winning the title on Sunday, Alcaraz will maintain his World No. 1 ranking. However, he must first face Jannik Sinner in a semifinal match on Friday.

Future Rivalry with Jannik Sinner

Alcaraz believes that he and Jannik Sinner are on track to compete for “big things in the future” and is eager to see the improvements in their respective games and how their rivalry evolves over time. Having faced Sinner in the Indian Wells semifinals two weeks ago, Alcaraz recognizes that their upcoming Miami Open match will be a challenge, as Sinner is also playing at a high level. “I’ve played against him (Sinner) in the final rounds of tournaments. That means he is playing a great level,” said Alcaraz. “Of course, I am sure that we are going to play for big things in the future. I can’t wait to see our [improvement].”

Chasing Tennis History

In the rivalry so far, Alcaraz holds a slight 3-2 edge over Sinner. The winner of their Miami Open semifinal match will face either Daniil Medvedev or Karen Khachanov in the final on Sunday. Additionally, Alcaraz is aiming to become the youngest man ever to win the Sunshine Double of Indian Wells and Miami, solidifying his place in the history of the sport.
