Emma Raducanu’s former coach, Andrew Richardson, opened up about his split from the 20-year-old, stating he had a plan for the youngster and wanted to continue with their association when he was informed that he was out of contract. Richardson coached Raducanu from ages 11 to 13 and again on a nine-week trial after Wimbledon in 2021. He led her to her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open, where the British youngster became the first qualifier to win a Grand Slam. Raducanu stated she needed someone “more experienced” since winning the Slam. Richardson revealed that he was keen to renegotiate after the US Open triumph, saying, “I wanted to carry on, and I had a plan that I wanted to put in place for Emma.” However, he was informed by her agent that they were going to go in a different direction.
