Danielle Collins’ Playstyle Compared to Andre Agassi’s Baseline Tactics by Andy Roddick

Andy Roddick has commented on Danielle Collins’ recent play, noting similarities to tennis legend Andre Agassi. Collins has experienced a significant rise in the WTA rankings, moving from world No. 71 in February to No. 15. Along the way, she has won two important titles.

Collins’ first victory came at the Miami Open, where she defeated Elena Rybakina 7-5, 6-3 in the final. She also won the Charleston Open title, beating Daria Kasatkina 6-2, 6-1 in the final. Additionally, she reached the quarterfinals of the Qatar Open in February and the ATX Open in March. Roddick, during a recent episode of the “Served with Andy Roddick” podcast, praised Collins’ unpredictable game and strong movement.

Roddick compared Collins to Agassi due to their ability to control points from the baseline. He also noted that Collins’ recent performances have had more winners and fewer errors. However, Roddick expressed caution about what might happen when she moves to play in Europe, where the clay court season has started. Historically, Collins has not performed as well in the European Grand Slam events, with her best result at the French Open being a quarterfinal appearance in 2020 and a third-round finish at Wimbledon.
