Donna Vekic recently presented a delightful Easter gift to her close friend, Belinda Bencic. The two tennis players have been friends since their junior days, and their bond has only grown stronger over the years. They previously competed in the quarterfinals of the US Open five years ago, with Bencic emerging victorious.
Via her Instagram stories on March 31, Vekic shared a snowy road scene wishing everyone a happy Easter. Later, she posted a picture featuring Bencic hiding behind a 1kg chocolate bunny and adorably referred to her as a “Swiss bunny.” Bencic was charmed by the sweet gesture and reposted the story on her Instagram account.
Belinda Bencic has been taking a break from professional tennis since the 2023 San Diego Open, and last November, she announced her pregnancy with boyfriend and fitness coach Martin Hromkovic. The couple has since prepared a nursery and baby gear as they await their baby’s arrival.
Bencic remains one of Switzerland’s top female tennis players, known for her aggressive playing style. She has had strong performances at the US Open, including a semifinal (2019) and two quarterfinal appearances (2014, 2021). Her best run on the WTA Tour spanned from 2020 to 2021, culminating in a career-high ranking of No. 4 and winning both a gold medal in women’s singles and a silver in women’s doubles at the Tokyo Olympics.
