Iga Swiatek, at only 22 years old, has already achieved remarkable accomplishments in tennis, including being ranked World No. 1 and securing four Grand Slam titles. Tennis commentator and former World No. 4 Jelena Dokic believes Swiatek’s successful trajectory will only continue.
In a recent interview for the Australian Open website, Dokic commended Swiatek for her consistency in recent years. Describing her as the “most explosive” player on the Tour and the best mover, Dokic said she is primed for even greater achievements. “In a way it speaks to how good and consistent she is, that when she does lose a match it is a bit of a shock,” Dokic remarked. She also noted that Swiatek’s movement and defensive style could improve even further.
However, Dokic did identify a weakness in Swiatek’s game: facing powerful hitters who can hit flat into her forehand. Dokic said that when opponents push Swiatek onto her back foot, they can force her to make more errors. Additionally, Dokic acknowledged the improvements Swiatek has made to her serve.
Dokic suggested that Swiatek should work on adding variation to her game, such as incorporating slices, drop shots, and coming forward to the net. The Australian commentator said these additions could elevate Swiatek’s game when faced with challenging situations. On the topic of her serve, Dokic appreciated Swiatek’s increased focus on her second serve by adding more power to it.
