In an interview with Prakash Amritraj following her second-round victory at the Mutua Madrid Open, Jelena Ostapenko discussed her approach to fashion. The ninth-seeded Latvian revealed that she decides the colors and styles of her outfits and consults with her designer to ensure she doesn’t wear anything she dislikes.
Ostapenko collaborated with Latvian activewear brand DK One in 2021 and admitted in a 2022 WTA Tour interview that the process of designing clothing is more complex than it appears. She further expressed her fondness for bright colors, such as neon pink, neon yellow, and neon green.
At the Madrid Open, Ostapenko is expected to face Maria Lourdes Carle in the third round. If she progresses to the fourth round, she will face either the 2022 Madrid Open champion Ons Jabeur or 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez.
