Nick Kyrgios recently shared some highlights from his visit to his mother Norlaila’s home country, Malaysia. His girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, and sister Halimah also joined him on the trip. Norlaila was born a princess of Pahang, a Malaysian state, but chose to pursue a career in computer engineering and moved to Australia, where she met and married Kyrgios’ father, Giorgos.
Norlaila is often not in the public eye due to her struggles with anxiety and a heart condition that prevents her from attending Kyrgios’ matches. On social media, Kyrgios shared moments from the trip, including a photo of Hatzi and a young man enjoying Malaysian street food and another one of the couple at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre. They also visited the Batu Caves, a famous Hindu shrine, and took pictures next to the Murugan Statue, which is among the tallest statues in the world.
After sharing the trip’s highlights, Kyrgios congratulated his parents on their 36th wedding anniversary, calling them the best parents in the world. Currently, the 28-year-old tennis player is inactive as he recovers from a long injury layoff. His last competitive match was at last year’s Stuttgart Open, where he suffered a first-round loss.
