Novak Djokovic & Goran Ivanisevic’s Breakup Linked to Indian Wells Argument – Reports

Novak Djokovic, the world’s top-ranked tennis player, has recently ended his coaching relationship with Goran Ivanisevic. The split allegedly resulted from a significant disagreement during the 2024 Indian Wells tournament. Djokovic and Ivanisevic had a remarkably successful partnership, securing 12 Grand Slam titles together since they began working together in 2018.

Djokovic has had a disappointing start to the season, with his dreams of a Golden Slam ending after a loss to Jannik Sinner in the Australian Open semifinals and a third-round defeat by 20-year-old Luca Nardi at Indian Wells. On March 27, Djokovic announced the separation from Ivanisevic via his Instagram account, thanking his former coach for their time together.

Tennis analyst Craig Shapiro later reported that the reason behind the split was a “big argument” over Djokovic’s effort during practice sessions at Indian Wells. Additionally, Shapiro previously shared that Djokovic was “unhappy” with his team and was potentially making changes, focusing more on the clay season and the Paris Olympics instead of Wimbledon.

Djokovic is now preparing for the clay season at the Monte-Carlo Masters, scheduled for April 6-14. He hopes to achieve a Triple Career Golden Masters by winning all nine Masters 1000 titles three times each. Djokovic has previously won the Monte-Carlo Masters in 2013 and 2015.
