Novak Djokovic’s Father Hospitalized: Srdjan Suffers Fall, Suspected Fracture as Tennis Star Joins Him

Serbian reports claim that Novak Djokovic’s father, Srdjan, has been hospitalized after a fall at his home in Belgrade. Srdjan was reportedly feeding his birds when he fell from his chair, injuring his arm and possibly fracturing his upper arm. Upon hearing the news, Novak and his brother Marko rushed to join their father at the hospital. The doctors have not yet announced how long Srdjan will need to stay in the hospital for treatment.

Fortunately, Novak Djokovic was in Belgrade training for the upcoming Italian Open and French Open. The world’s top-ranked tennis player had withdrawn from the Madrid Open taking place this week and has only participated in one clay tournament this season, the Monte-Carlo Masters, where he reached the semifinals.

In an interview with Bosnian daily Kurir in 2020, Novak Djokovic’s grandfather Zagar discussed the key role Srdjan played in Novak’s life and career. Zagar emphasized how much Srdjan prayed for his son’s success and had always believed Novak was destined for greatness. Zagar also revealed the financial struggles Srdjan and his wife Dijana faced during Djokovic’s childhood, often having to borrow large sums of money at high interest rates. Novak Djokovic’s grandfather also fondly remembered his grandson’s good behavior and strong education from a young age.
