Ons Jabeur Discusses Family Planning Struggles After Wimbledon Heartbreak & Impact on Motherhood Readiness

Ons Jabeur has revealed the personal heartbreak that she and her husband Karim Kamoun experienced following her defeat in the 2023 Wimbledon Championships final. Jabeur made it to the Wimbledon final for the second year in a row, having lost in the 2022 final to Elena Rybakina. In the 2023 championship, she faced Marketa Vondrousova, an unexpected finalist. Although Jabeur was the favorite, her performance was plagued with errors, and she ultimately lost 6-4, 6-4 to Vondrousova, breaking down in tears afterwards.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Jabeur explained the deeply personal reason behind her emotional reaction. The 29-year-old revealed that she and her husband had planned to become parents but her loss in the 2023 Wimbledon final turned their plans upside down. Jabeur expressed her hope to become a mother and bring her child on tour with her one day, acknowledging that she isn’t getting any younger.

Following her heartbreaking loss in the 2023 Wimbledon final, Jabeur’s form took a significant dip. She won only one title at the Ningbo Open and had a disastrous start to the 2024 season due to a persistent knee injury. However, things have started to look up for Jabeur as she is currently in the running for the Madrid Open title and has reached the quarterfinals against Madison Keys. Jabeur had previously won the Madrid Open in 2022.
