Williams has joined forces with the National Trust’s African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund to lead a fundraising campaign aimed at restoring and safeguarding Simone’s childhood home.

To kick off the fundraising efforts, Williams and Pendleton are hosting an exclusive art auction, which will take place online from May 11-22. The auction will conclude in a ticketed gala at the prestigious Pace Gallery in Manhattan on May 20, with top auction house Sotheby’s conducting the online event.

In a recent Q&A, the seven-time Grand Slam champion joked about her lack of prize money from winning tennis tournaments in recent times. When asked about how prize money is deposited in a player’s personal account, Williams quipped, “Honestly, I don’t know, haven’t had any prize money in a while so…” She also shared her thoughts on the approach a player should have during match point, stressing the importance of being proactive and taking the initiative.
