The Shanghai Masters is an ATP Masters 1000 tournament and one of the most important events in tennis. Following a prolonged absence of three consecutive years due to the pandemic and the country’s strict policies on social gatherings, the event is being played in China since 2019 for the first time. During his upcoming return to Shanghai, Federer will be honored with the title of Icon Athlete of the tournament.
