Roger Federer & Trevor Noah in funny Swiss Grand Train Tour commercial

In a newly released commercial titled “The Grand Train Tour of Switzerland: The Ride of a Lifetime,” tennis legend Roger Federer and South African comedian Trevor Noah take viewers on a train journey through the breathtaking landscape of Switzerland. The video, released by Switzerland Tourism, features a hilariously botched commercial within a commercial, with the duo accidentally boarding the wrong train to Interlaken.

Comedic mishap on the train

As Federer and Noah prepare to shoot the commercial, they mistakenly board the wrong train and are unable to disembark in time. Without their cellphones and wallets, they rely on the help of a kind fellow passenger with their train tickets. The Swiss tennis legend and the celebrated entertainer end up enjoying the scenic train ride through Switzerland anyway. “We’re never on the wrong train. This has been amazing man. Can I just say – This has been phenomenal,” says Trevor Noah in the skit.

Federer and Noah’s banter

“I’m happy we’re on the wrong train,” admits Federer, to which Noah teasingly responds, “It was your fault, but I don’t hold that against you.” The video concludes with the duo intentionally avoiding the film crew and boarding a different train bound for Luzern. Their adventure showcases the beauty of Switzerland’s landscape and the enjoyable experience of train travel through the country.

Previous collaborations for Swiss Tourism

This commercial is not Roger Federer’s first partnership with well-known figures in the entertainment industry to promote Swiss Tourism. The 20-time Grand Slam champion previously collaborated with Robert De Niro in 2021 and Anne Hathaway in 2022 in an effort to promote the Alpine country. In a recent interview with FT Globetrotter, Federer shared that he has embraced his role as Switzerland’s ambassador more seriously, finding great fun in the commercial shoots with Noah, De Niro, and Hathaway.
