WWE Hall of Famer Alundra Blayze (Madusa) has shared her thoughts on how the beatdown of Cody Rhodes by Brock Lesnar could lead to the most significant moment in The American Nightmare’s career.
Last month, Rhodes faced Roman Reigns in a match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39. Despite coming close to defeating The Tribal Chief, Rhodes lost due to interference from Solo Sikoa. The next night on RAW, Rhodes was supposed to team up with Lesnar against Reigns and Sikoa in a tag team match, but The Beast Incarnate attacked his partner before the match began. In the following weeks, Rhodes and Lesnar had a match at Backlash, which The American Nightmare won. However, Lesnar attacked Rhodes again during a World Heavyweight Championship qualifying match on RAW and challenged him to another bout.
In an interview with A&B Convos: Wrestling Edition, Blayze discussed whether Vince McMahon might be punishing Rhodes for starting AEW by having him lose to Reigns and get beaten by Lesnar. She asserted that while it’s a possibility, it could also be a way of building Rhodes up to receive the biggest pop in his career. Blayze praised Rhodes’s talent and deemed him a great representative for the company’s future.
Blayze believes that the WWE might be intentionally beating Rhodes down in order to build him back up and give him the biggest pop of his life. She suggested that the WWE might be using the beatdown as a way to surprise fans and make Roman Reigns the best heel in the organization.
Cody Rhodes is set to face Brock Lesnar again at WWE Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on May 27. In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling’s UnSKripted, Bill Apter predicted that Lesnar would destroy Rhodes at the upcoming WWE Premium Live Event, possibly putting him into a slump and out of the title picture.
