Finn Balor recently discussed the origins of the iconic Bullet Club in professional wrestling. Since its inception in 2013, the faction has become one of the most dominant in the sport, with members including Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, AJ Styles, and Jay White. Despite losing some of its glory due to the departure of The Elite, the Bullet Club still maintains a massive fanbase.
Choosing the Name
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Balor, the group’s first leader, explained the process of selecting the name “Bullet Club”. He wanted to find a name that tied all the original members—himself, Tama Tonga, Karl Anderson, and Bad Luck Fale—together. The name was inspired by their various ring personas and signature moves, such as Anderson’s “The Machine Gun” and Fale’s “Hand Grenade.” Balor ultimately chose Bullet Club because it sounded cool, despite concerns that the Japanese might mispronounce it as “beret.”
Evolution of the Bullet Club
Over the years, the Bullet Club has undergone numerous changes, with new wrestlers joining and departing the group. Among these additions were marquee names like Omega, The Young Bucks, Rhodes, Styles, and White. Despite losing some of its star power, the Bullet Club remains a formidable presence in professional wrestling.
Finn Balor’s Recent Championship Pursuit
Balor recently competed in a tournament to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion at the Night of Champions event. Although he defeated Cody Rhodes and The Miz to advance to the semi-finals, he ultimately came up short against Seth Rollins. It remains to be seen where Balor’s career will go from here and who his next rival will be.
