Cody Rhodes made a surprising appearance on RAW this week for a special edition of Miz TV. During their verbal interaction, The Miz dropped a 13-year-old reference to Cody’s past gimmick as “Dashing” Cody Rhodes.
Miz references “Dashing” Cody Rhodes gimmick
This week on RAW, former WWE Champion The Miz complimented Cody by telling him that he looked dashing, a reference to the 37-year-old star’s gimmick from 13 years ago. Cody adopted the “Dashing” persona after he was drafted to SmackDown as part of the 2010 WWE supplemental draft. As part of this character, Rhodes was highly narcissistic, proclaiming himself as the best-looking wrestler in WWE and offering grooming tips for viewers in multiple vignettes.
Cody Rhodes’ achievements as “Dashing” character
During his time as “Dashing” Cody Rhodes, the wrestler won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Drew McIntyre. However, their partnership did not last long, as they went their separate ways less than a month after forming their tag team. Cody’s run as “Dashing” Rhodes came to an end in January 2011, when he legitimately broke his nose during a match against Rey Mysterio. This led to WWE repackaging him as “Shattered” Cody Rhodes, making him wear protective face gear to sell his injury.
Cody Rhodes confronts Dominik Mysterio on RAW
During RAW, Rhodes mentioned that Brock Lesnar is on his “annual hibernation.” The Miz surprised his guest by introducing Dominik Mysterio. Dominik, accompanied by Rhea Ripley, called Cody a “deadbeat dad” for not being there for his daughter, similar to how Rey Mysterio wasn’t there for Dominik. In response, Rhodes said that Rey made several mistakes, and Dominik was one of them. It remains to be seen if a match between Cody and Dominik will take place in the future.
